Kohlberg, also called Coal Hill or Spring Hill, is a low mountain in eastern Pennsylvania within the Reading Prong of the Appalachian Mountains. Its main peak reaches 971 feet in Lower Saucon Township between Hellertown and Springtown, and a small part extends into Springfield Township in Bucks County. The name comes from the German Kohle Berg, meaning “Coal Mountain.” Although not high, Kohlberg is part of the older upland belt of the Reading Prong rather than the broader ridge-and-valley landscape often linked with the Appalachians. It is one of the smaller named elevations that help shape the rolling terrain around the Lehigh Valley and nearby rural communities.
