Case Estates is a sixty-five-acre botanical garden on Wellesley Street in Weston, Massachusetts, created from land first acquired by James Case in 1863 and expanded by his daughter Marian Roby Case into Hillcrest Farms, an experimental fruit and vegetable farm she operated from 1909 to 1942. She used it to promote scientific agriculture and provide summer work and practical education for local young people. The grounds became known for their gardens, rare plants, evergreen forest trails, and an immense dry stone wall built as a gift to her sister in 1911. Marian Case left the estate to Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum in 1942, and after years of delay, its sale to Weston was cleared in 2015.
