Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House Complex, designed and constructed between 1903 and 1905, was the only fully integrated residential complex of its kind in his celebrated career. With its long, low silhouette, the integration of the buildings with the site, and its free-flowing interior spaces, it stands as an outstanding example of Wright’s Prairie House ideal and has been regarded as one of the most important works of twentieth-century architecture. The complex includes the Martin House, Pergola, Conservatory, Barton House, and Carriage House, and the Darwin D. Martin House is a National Historic Landmark.
