Brush Run Seceder Church was chartered in 1798. Its first pastor was James Duncan, who held services in a 5 x 12 tent and later in a log cabin. In 1811, a two acre cemetery was created. In 1848, the church relocated as United Presbyterian church near Darlington, with B.F. Sawyer as pastor.
