For over one hundred years, the 1892 bell and the belltower that contained it stood as a symbol of faith over the southeastern corner of the Clayton United Methodist Church building. On August 25, 1998, the declining structural condition of the tower resulted in its removal from the church roof. The bell was then dedicated and displayed as a continuing witness to the tradition of the Clayton United Methodist Church.
