The men and women of Chanute served the country in the wars in which the United States has been engaged, including World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Operation Desert Shield/Storm, with rolls honoring the dead and veterans; the war memorial was erected and presented by V.F.W. Post 1654 to the City of Chanute on June 14, 1938.
