Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop grew from the Thunderbird Drive-in Theater, opened by Betty and Preston Henn in 1963, into a sprawling 80-acre flea market and entertainment complex in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. What began as a single-screen drive-in later expanded with a flea market that gave many small businesses in southeastern Florida a place to begin, then added food, a stage, air-conditioned enclosed spaces, circus performances, and major musical acts. The property eventually reached 14 screens, though damage from Hurricane Wilma left 13 in use. In 2023, a suspicious fire closed the drive-in, but the flea market remained open as a lasting South Florida commercial and entertainment hub.
