Halsted House, the oldest brick house in Lake County, was built in 1849 as the home of Melvin Halsted, founder of Lowell. His pit and kilns were located just across Cedar Creek. In 1978, the property was acquired for the community through the combined efforts of interested citizens, area organizations, and the Three Creeks Historical Association, Inc.
