Conrad Savanna Nature Preserve is a 453-acre preserve in Newton County, Indiana, managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. It protects a sandy landscape of rolling dunes and level ground south of the Kankakee River that has changed little since eastern settlers first arrived. Fine quartz sand drains quickly, creating dry conditions that support oak savanna, especially black oak and white oak, along with grasses, sedges, and dry prairie plants. This habitat preserves a natural community once more widespread in northwest Indiana and forms part of a broader savanna landscape with nearby Conrad Station Savanna, maintained through controlled burns.
