On a sheep ranch, springtime was shearing and lambing time, and the Pratts hired shearers and sheepherders to help. Because these workers often did not live nearby, they slept in the bunkhouse, which was also used for storage. Another structure housed stables and a blacksmithing and woodworking shop, where Fent made and repaired items needed on the ranch.
