Confederate soldiers Wilson P. Lilly, Rev. Sherwood Hatley, Lindsey Duke Buckner, and M. Blincoe were shot without cause or trial on October 25, 1864, by order of Stephen G. Burbridge, and were remembered as four martyrs by the Albert Sidney Johnston Chapter U.D.C. of Louisville, Ky., which erected this memorial on June 11, 1904.
