General Braddock's sixth camp on the march to Fort Duquesne stood here on Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, 1755. George Washington was forced to remain behind with a guard because of violent fevers until he was cured by Dr. James's Powders, which he called in a letter to his brother Augustine "one of the most excellent medicines in the world."
