Hompegg Falls is a little-known waterfall in southeastern Washington, where an unnamed creek drops into the North Fork Touchet River in the Umatilla National Forest. About fifteen miles south of Dayton, it was named from the initials of seven hikers who found it in the nineteen thirties. The falls sit in a canyon bordered by higher ridges, with lowland fir, western larch, and Douglas fir nearby and shrubs on the lower slopes. Small mammals and birds inhabit the area, including Siskiyou chipmunks, snowshoe rabbits, dippers, and Townsend's warblers. Flooding has heavily shaped the site, likely removing much of the original cliff and producing notable high-water flow during the February nineteen ninety-six flood.
