Cone Cemetery began with the burial of W. G. English on April 17, 1897, the father of J. P. and E. M. English, on land the state patented to J. P. English on October 9, 1897. Its title was adopted after the post office was named in 1903 for rancher Stanton J. Cone. Crosby County acquired the cemetery from Judge Pink L. Parrish on May 8, 1910.
