The Waverly Building originally stood at Waverly Plantation and was moved to the hammock shop complex in the spring of 1983. The oldest building in the complex, it was built in the early 1800's and served as the original post office for what is now the Pawleys Island area, as well as the business office for P.R. Lachicotte & Sons. Waverly Plantation was bought in 1871 by P.R. Lachicotte and had the largest and last rice mill in Georgetown County. At its peak, it employed over 500 people and farmed over 4,000 acres of rice in the Waccamaw-Pee Dee Delta.
