Triumph Church was first located at 971 N. Cove Blvd, now MLK Blvd, in an unpainted rectangular frame building erected in 1931, purchased from the African Universal Commercial League, and dedicated on March 24, 1936, under founding pastor Rev. Dunbar. The 1962 city directory shows Triumph at 1017 N. Cove Blvd. Two women devoted to the church were Florida Hopson and her step-daughter Winnie Temple. Temple's obituary, printed March 5, 1998, said she was a lifelong Christian of Triumph, worked in various capacities of the church, committed her total life to God, attained the honor of State Mother in the Triumph Church, was a worldwide traveler, and was a devoted citizen in the community. Florida and Winnie both died at the age of 86, 10 years apart. Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ was at 1017 MLK Blvd.
