Menominee Pier Light stands at the harbor entrance in Menominee, Michigan, where it continues to guide vessels in tandem with a rear range light farther back on the north pier. First lit in 1877, the station reflects the harbor’s long navigational importance, while the present red octagonal cast-iron tower dates from 1927. Automated in 1972, it lost its iron catwalk, and an attached diaphone fog-signal structure was also later removed. Though only 34 feet tall, its light has a focal plane 46 feet above the water. Its original Fourth Order Fresnel lens was later replaced, and the original is now displayed at Sand Point Light in Escanaba.
