Union soldiers who served in the War of the Rebellion from 1861-1865 are honored here, including members of John McTucker Post 154, G.A.R., Department of Illinois, along with many veterans identified by name and regiment from Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, California cavalry, artillery, and U.S. artillery units. The names are arranged by the monument’s north, east, west, and south sides, with especially long rosters for the 28th Illinois Infantry and numerous other infantry, cavalry, and artillery regiments.
