The Corbin-Cumberland Falls Road was built by the Kiwanis Club of Corbin. On July 10, 1927, the first round trip by automobile through wilderness from Corbin to the Falls stimulated the idea for the trail. Members of the Kiwanis Road Committee were Tom Gallagher, I.O. Chitwood, Robert A. Blair and Wad Candler. The trail was completed Sept. 22, 1927. The highway was dedicated in 1931, opening Cumberland Falls to the public.
