Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Kentucky occupies 1,657 acres within Daniel Boone National Forest and is centered on Cumberland Falls, a 68-foot waterfall on the Cumberland River known for its frequently visible moonbow during full moons. The park also includes 44-foot Eagle Falls, a designated Kentucky Wild River stretch, and protected surrounding forest. It was created after plans for a hydroelectric plant threatened development at the falls; after T. Coleman du Pont died, his wife purchased the falls and nearby land in 1930, and the park was dedicated in 1931. Today it preserves the landscape while offering lodging, trails, outdoor recreation, and seasonal events.
