Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hall purchased 130 acres in 1952 and named it South Bethany. Richard Hall stood at his South Bethany office, and the N. 4th Street field office remained a residence in 2017. A 1950's South Bethany brochure used descriptive words that still applied to the town, and lot sales were advertised in 1959 and 1962. In the early 1970's, the Shore-Lea Real Estate office was located between Indian Street and S. 9th Street. Richard Hall Memorial Park is named after the founder of South Bethany.
