Hildreth Covered Bridge in Washington County, Ohio, about 5 miles east of Marietta, carried Hills Bridge Road over the Little Muskingum River and was also known as the Hills Covered Bridge or Lafaber's Mill Bridge. Built over an unusually long period from 1871 to 1881, with the main work completed in 1878, it remains notable despite its unknown builder. The structure is a single-span wooden Howe truss on ashlar abutments and piers, with a metal roof, vertical siding, and battens at its portal openings. Rising high above the stream, it has long been regarded as one of the area's most striking covered bridges and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
