The Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago’s Jackson Park is a museum, library, education campus, and civic space created to honor the 44th U.S. president while reflecting Barack and Michelle Obama’s deep ties to the South Side. Developed by the Obama Foundation with the University of Chicago, it opened in 2026 after years of planning, design, and construction. Its campus includes a museum tower, forum, library branch, community spaces, and an athletic facility set within landscaped parkland. Working with the National Archives and Records Administration, it is also creating the first fully digitized presidential library, making the site a major cultural institution rather than a traditional archive.
