The Gober-Barron-Williford House is a late Victorian structure with fine glass and gingerbread trim, built in 1896 and first occupied by Joe L. Gober, the first sheriff of Cottle County, who served from 1892 to 1898. At a time when many townspeople lived in dugouts and building materials had to be hauled from the railroad towns of Childress and Quanah, the house stood out locally before Paducah acquired a railway line in 1909. Gober later sold the home to W. M. Barron, the county's third sheriff, and since 1941 it has been owned by the J. H. Williford family.
