Medicine Mounds is a group of four prominent hills in Hardeman County, Texas: Big Mound, Cedar Mound, Third Mound, and Little Mound. Rising to between 1,580 and 1,713 feet, the cluster stands out in the landscape and holds an important place in Comanche tradition. In that tradition, spirits lived on the peaks, and medicinal plants were placed there as offerings. The hills also lent their name to the nearby community of Medicine Mound, linking the natural landmark to both Indigenous belief and local identity.
