These columns came from the portico of St. Barnabus Hospital, which operated from 1909 to 1922 and later became St. John's Junior School from 1922 to 1964. Associated with the site are the words Scientia, Virtus, and Disciplina, as well as LTC Russell "Russ" Lund Guernsey, Commandant, Instructor, and Scientist, from 1946 to 1988, and LTC Virgil "Lefty" Benjamin Loy, Coach, Instructor, and Historian, from 1952 to 1988.
