The Foothills Trail is a 22-mile non-motorized rail-trail in eastern Pierce County, Washington, running from Puyallup to Enumclaw and serving cyclists, walkers, joggers, skaters, and horse riders. Designated a National Recreation Trail in 2012, it passes through farmland, Orting, South Prairie, and Buckley, with views of Mount Rainier and the Carbon River. For years it ended in Buckley, but a 572-foot bridge over the White River opened in October 2024, linking it to an existing King County trail into Enumclaw. In August 2025, that crossing briefly became the only direct route between Buckley and Enumclaw after nearby bridge damage. Long-range plans envision extensions west toward Sumner and southeast toward Mount Rainier National Park.
