In Spring 1866 Father Henry Meurs came to Glasgow at the request of area Catholics, and work soon began on a church building. Bricks were purchased from McClinicks Brickyard of Glasgow for $10.00 per hundred. In 1897 the church was remodeled as Satolli Hall and used as a school, and the present church was then built. It was dedicated in May 1913. In 1956 the parish was joined to the Diocese of Jefferson City, and the parishes of west Glasgow and Marian Hill were incorporated in St. Mary’s.
