Oregon’s Snowshoe Formation preserves fossils from the Jurassic and records a span from the Toarcian to the Bathonian stages, placing it in the Early to Middle Jurassic. It is recognized as a fossil-bearing geologic unit, with discoveries that include the loricatan Zoneait nargorum. Study of the formation has also examined Middle Jurassic radiolarians from its South Fork Member. Together, these fossils make the Snowshoe Formation an important part of the paleontological record of Oregon’s Jurassic past.
