Bell's Landing
History
Founded in 1823 as the Brazos River landing for Josiah H. Bell's plantation, this site became the townsite of Marion in 1824 and was later named East Columbia. During the Texas Revolution it served as an army enlistment point and ferrying dock, and in the days of the Republic of Texas it was a key river port and trade center.
