Camden, Arkansas
· Ouachita County
History
John Nunn, a pioneer settler, donated a square at Fabre’s Landing in 1842, where the first courthouse in Ouachita County was created. Soon afterward, the settlement’s name was changed from Fabre’s Landing to Camden. The county took its name from the river, and the French spelling was used for the Indian sound of “Washita.”
