West Nyack's Last Horse Trough
Transportation
6
Built when horses provided the basic means of transporting people and their possessions in Rockland County, this trough was fed by an underground spring that supplied clean water for thirsty animals in the neighborhood. Constructed using 19th Century masonry, it has been fully restored and remains as a permanent memorial to a time when traffic and life itself moved at a slower pace.
