H. Melville wrote in "Moby-Dick" that New Bedford was perhaps the dearest place to live in all New England, with more patrician-like houses, parks, and gardens more opulent than anywhere else in America, and that all these brave houses and flowery gardens came from the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans, harpooned and dragged up from the bottom of the sea. Summer temperatures range from 56-83F. Fall temperatures range from 30-70F. Winter temperatures range from 20-45F. Spring temperatures range from 30-70F.
