New Salem Covered Bridge stood near Commerce in Banks County, Georgia, carrying a local road over a branch of Grove Creek about 6 miles north of town. Built in 1915, it was a modest 47-foot single-span covered bridge using a multiple kingpost truss, typical of the small rural bridges that once served local travel. A modern concrete bridge bypassed it by 1974, ending its use, but its age and intact form led to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The bridge later collapsed in 1984.
