The citizens of Assumption Parish erected this memorial in honor of their sons who served their country in the Great War for the preservation of democracy and in loving memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice for the triumph of the free peoples of the world and an honorable victorious and enduring peace. It was dedicated June 6, 1920, with the inscription Aux Morts Pour La Patrie.
