Nancy Ethie Eagleton was an outstanding historian, naturalist, and educator who taught for 53 years in Texas schools before retiring in 1961. In 1947 she organized Junior Historians number 76, founded the Mendoza Trail Museum, served as the first chairman of the Upton County Survey Committee, and wrote the first Upton County history, "On the Last Frontier." She was also one of the first fellows of the Permian Historical Society and a member of the Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Presbyterian Church. Her untiring efforts and devotion to all humanity were regarded as a lasting benefit to future generations, and she was remembered as a worthy citizen.
