Carmichaels Covered Bridge in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, carries a road across Muddy Creek and stands as a characteristic surviving example of the region’s wooden covered bridges. Built in 1889, the 64-foot bridge uses a Queenpost truss, a timber design common on shorter spans, and has a gable roof covered with raised-seam tin to shield the wood from weather. By October 1978, it was one of nine historic covered bridges still standing in Greene County, recalling a time when such practical structures were more common in local transportation. Its significance was formally recognized with National Register of Historic Places listing in 1979.
