The Herrick Memorial Library was erected by Hon. Myron T. Herrick, once our fellow citizen, always our friend. He dedicated it to the memory of his father and mother, Timothy R. Herrick and Mary Hulbert Herrick, and presented it to the Township of Wellington on January 2, 1904. The building occupies the site of the old American House, the scene of the famous Oberlin-Wellington Rescue Case on September 13, 1858.
