The 7th Ohio Infantry, in Candy's Brigade, Geary's Division, 12th Corps, fought on November 24, 1863, in the storming of Lookout Mountain, where Col. Wm. R. Creighton commanded the brigade after Col. Candy was disabled. On November 25, the regiment and its brigade took part in the assault on Missionary Ridge and reached the summit about this point. On November 27, the regiment assaulted Taylor's Ridge at Ringgold. Lieut. Col. Orrin J. Crane, Col. Creighton, who was commanding the brigade, Adjutant Baxter, and Lieuts. Cryne and I.C. Jones were killed, and eight officers were wounded, leaving only one uninjured. Its strength in action was 14 officers and 206 men, and its casualties were 5 officers and 13 men killed, 8 officers and 48 men wounded, for a total of 74.
