Spur Trail in Millbrae is a paved walking route through the Spur Property parkland, valued as a recreational open space near San Francisco. Its two separate segments, about half a mile apart, pass through groves, open field edges, and land near local schools before connecting to surrounding streets and areas near Millbrae Station. The parkland exists because residents repeatedly resisted development. The Spur Property had been reserved for a Junipero Serra Boulevard expansion that would have cut through Millbrae, but after that project was abandoned, most of the land was rezoned as open space in 1975. Later proposals to build on or sell parts of it also met strong opposition.
