Members of the Christian Church in Savannah have worshipped in four different buildings, all on this half-block of land. The church was organized in 1847, and members first met in the courthouse near Sixth Street. In 1852, the first church building was erected near the center of the block. In 1894, another church was built at the east end of the block facing Fifth Street. In 1959, the present church was dedicated to the service of God, continuing the congregation’s presence on the same plot of ground since 1847.
