Old Mill of Guilford
History
2
An original water-powered mill was built on nearby Beaver Creek to grind grain for early settlers and was reportedly seized by British troops prior to the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. The mill was later moved downstream to its current location, and its first waterwheel was added in 1818. The current waterwheel was added in the 1950s, and the mill is among the oldest operating gristmills in the U.S.
