The original federal style building on this site was built about 1850. Italianate ironwork columns and lower-level storefront windows were added about 1875. It was used as a hotel, the Citizen's National Bank, and the South Side Theatre before being significantly remodeled again in 1922 in the craftsman commercial style to house the Greensburg Daily News publishing offices. The newspaper operated from this facility for over 50 years.
