The Belton Standpipe is a historical landmark built in 1908, restored in 1990, and placed on the state and national archives register in 1987. At the time of its dedication plaque, city officials included Mayor Leo Fisher, City Council members James A. Hawkins, Wallace P. Shaw, Mike Rowland, C.L. (Bill) Oates, Francis Marshall, and Sam F. Hanks, with John Edwards serving as city administrator, Bob Burris as utility superintendent, Edna H. Cason as clerk treasurer, Rentz Engineering involved in the project, and The Belk Co. as general contractor.
