Forest Place
History
6
From 1869 through 1989, the Dr. John Peach House stood on Dr. John Peach's 247-acre farm, named Forest Place. John Peach, who lived from 1835 to 1935, was the fifth generation of his family in this area. He built the house, which was a good example of Victorian Vernacular Farmhouse architecture. He practiced as a country doctor for 40 years and then retired to farming. He is buried in the cemetery at the nearby Mount Oak Methodist Church, which his father helped to establish.
