The monument honors the men and women of Lebanon who served the country in the armed forces during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2003 through the end of hostilities. It was dedicated by the people of Lebanon in honor of U.S. service men and women who freely served so others could be free. The monument was erected as Steven Shenkle's Eagle Scout project in 2014 through Troop 180, and the plaque was a gift of American Legion Post 180 of Lebanon, Connecticut.
