In 1925 U. S. Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover, later U. S. President, inspected Fred Young's dairy farm after one of its Jersey cows, Sensation's Mikado's Millie, was recognized as a world champion butter-fat producer. The house here, built c. 1877 according to family tradition, was remodeled in 1968 by Edward L. Young, a S. C. House member from 1958 to 1960 and a U. S. Congressman from 1972 to 1974.
