The log cabin at Fort Zumwalt is the only War of 1812 site located in a public park. Jacob Zumwalt lived here for nineteen years and raised ten children from two wives. He moved to Pike County, Missouri, with one of his sons in 1817 and died in 1820. In the early 1880s, Darius Heald built Stony Point, a two-story brick farmhouse in the park, now known as the Heald Home.
