Organized in 1913, Morgan Baptist Church traced its origins to nearby Beersheba Primitive Baptist Church, circa 1850, and its successor, Englewood Church. The congregation first met in the Morgan Schoolhouse across the road from the present church before buying land for a new building from T.G. and M.L. Loftin and the county. Joe Phillips, the first pastor, supplied much of the lumber from his sawmill, and church members built the church over about two years. The building later underwent several additions and renovations. From 1913 to 2014, the pastors were Joe Phillips, Sebe Hunts, Joe Shields, Taylor Morris, John Bowden, Jim Baxter, William Pugh, T.M. Shirah, W.M. Dean, J.D. Willingham, B.J. Marshall, D.C.H. Fuller, Gene Todd, I.R. Hicks, Hohn Griffin, M.J. Walding, William A. Baker, A.M. Glover, Dowling Woodham, Edwin R. Walter, Larry Phelps, James A. Whitt, C.H. McKnight, George Dubose, John Payne, Darryl Hammonds, Jim Booth, Jim Strength, Bill Weed, and Kyle Robertson.
