Indian City USA was an outdoor museum in Anadarko, Oklahoma, founded in 1954 by local citizens to present American Indian houses and lifeways through reconstructed dwellings of tribes from the Southwest and Southern Plains, including the Caddo, Southern Cheyenne, Wichita, Pawnee, Navajo, and Apache. Supervised by the University of Oklahoma’s Department of Anthropology, it also featured guided tours, Native dancing, arts and crafts, and an indoor museum. The site stood near several other Native cultural institutions in Anadarko, but it also occupied ground marked by the Civil War-era Tonkawa massacre and land once within the Kiowa, Apache, and Comanche Reservation. The property is now owned by the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma.
